TAS members and friends are invited to celebrate local conservation heroes, and hear from Members Migration headliner Miami eco-artist Xavier Cortada who will speak about "Art & Advocacy — Merging environmental activism with artistic expression” on April 27, 4-6pm.

Attendees can also take a bird walk (it’s Spring Migration!), savor Sports Grill sliders, RNDC Bird Bar libations and enjoy live music by Funk Pedal. Between bites duck inside the Historic Doc Thomas House to score an array of collectible bird figurines for a song!

TAS President José Francisco Barros will host a Conservation Awards Ceremony recognizing outstanding environmental role models in their respective fields of endeavor — citizen volunteers and public servants who have dedicated themselves to protecting and preserving area wildlife, critical habitat and/or our region’s natural resources.

This year the Awards Ceremony will be preceded by a hearty welcome and formal recognition of area  National Park Service professionals (employees and those recently dismissed) for their dedication to our open spaces. Many of these selfless public servants — rangers, biologists, educators, and stewards of our nation’s most cherished landscapes — now face an uncertain future. South Floridians are encouraged to express their appreciation for their passion and expertise. The roles they play in safeguarding our parks, preserving our natural heritage and inspiring generations to cherish the wild places that define our country are indispensible.
